Moogfest
May 19-22, Durham, North Carolina
"Moogfest, in its mom-and-pop technosophy and
its insistence on immersive experiences in small,
comfortable spaces, might have gotten something
exactly right." - New York Times
Moogfest is the synthesis of music, art, and
technology. Since 2004, Moogfest has brought
together artists, futurist thinkers, inventors,
entrepreneurs, designers, engineers, scientists,
and musicians.

By day, Moogfest is a platform for conversation
and experimentation. This mind-expanding
conference attracts creative and technology
enthusiasts for three days of participatory
programming in Durham, North Carolina. By night,
Moogfest presents cutting-edge music in venues
throughout the city. Performing artists include
early pioneers in electronic music, alongside pop
and avant-garde experimentalists of today.

Moogfest is a tribute to Dr. Robert Moog and the
profound influence his inventions have had on how
we hear the world. Over the last sixty years, Bob
Moog and Moog Music have pioneered the analog
synthesizer and other technology tools for artists.
This exchange between engineer and musician is
celebrated with a unique festival format where the
creative process is understood as a collaboration
among many people, across time and space,
in commerce and culture.

CreativeMornings is a breakfast lecture series
for the creative community. Their free, monthly
events feature a short talk, Q+A and breakfast.
CreativeMornings started in NYC in 2008 and has
since grown to over 100 cities all over the world.
The local chapters not only celebrate a city's
creative talent but also promote an open space
to connect with like-minded people.
CreativeMornings happen one Friday a month
from 8:30am to 10am.

Marfa Myths
March 10-13, 2016, Marfa, Texas
Marfa Myths is a four-day festival of music, cinema,
and visual art in the high desert grasslands of Far
West Texas. Curated by Ballroom Marfa and
Brooklyn-based record label Mexican Summer,
Marfa Myths features artists and musicians from
within and outside of the label's roster working
creatively and collaboratively across music, fi lm,
and visual arts contexts. The 2016 festival will
feature performances from William Basinski,
Awesome Tapes From Africa, Dungen, Raum,
Parquet Courts, No Age, Quilt with Mary Lattimore,
Sheer Mag, and LA legend Emitt Rhodes' fi rst live
show since 1973.

Ballroom Marfa will open a group exhibition
developed with New York-based artist Dan Colen
- with a reception on Friday, March 11 - to coincide
with the Marfa Myths weekend. This visual arts
program will examine the medium of painting
in Colen's most recent body of work, offering
new interpretations of landscape, sublimity,
and spirituality.
