This proved especially true this year when the Convention and Visitors Bureau announced that Fort Worth doubled convention- and meetings-related room nights to 258,000 for the fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30. “Sixty percent of our fiscal year is complete, and we’ve already exceeded in future meetings bookings what we did in our best year to date, over a 12-month period,” CVB president and CEO David DuBois said in July. From fiscal 2007 to 2008, the city had a 70 percent increase in booked events, to 312. Adding to the city’s strong growth over the last year was the addition of five CVB salespeople to market Forth Worth as a meetings and conventions destination, as well as a spate of new hotel projects like a 614-room Omni opening across from the Fort Worth Convention Center. Essential Tool Box Convention Center/Facilities: Fort Worth Convention Center, 253,226 sf of exposition space, 41 meeting rooms and a 28,000-sf ballroom. Will Rogers Memorial Center with 100,000 sf of contiguous exhibit space, auditorium, and coliseum.
