A TIME FOR HUNTING With animal "rights" groups growing increasingly more outspoken and radical, we were surprised recently to find time magazine was touting hunting as an effective wildlife management tool. In a recent feature titled "America's Pest Problem: It's Time to Cull The Herd," time explores wildlife overpopulation problems across much of the country, and echoes wildlife experts in saying hunting is the most effective, and most cost-effective, method for controlling wildlife populations. "Too many deer, wild pigs, raccoons and beavers can be almost as bad for the animals as too few," the article stated. "This is why communities across the country find themselves forced to grapple with a conundrum. The same environmental sensitivity that brought Bambi back from the brink over the last century now makes it painfully controversial to do what experts say must be done: a bunch of these critters need to be killed." While we don't often agree with time's view of firearm-related topics, giving credit where credit is due prompts us to mention that this time the publication hit the mark.
