Shooters from as far away as Redmond, OR, and Eureka, CA, came to test their skills at hitting the center of the target from 200 to 600 yards. The course-of-fire included standing, seated and prone positions in both slow-fire and rapid-fire contests. This event uses no telescopic sights and many shooters elect to reload their own ammunition for optimum control. However, no shooter can control nature and shooters battled throughout the championship against changing sunlight, together with variable wind speeds and directions. The Medford Rifle and Pistol Club holds several rifle and pistol matches each month, as well as many practice events.
