for any of the monetary awards, the member submitting a chapter’s Retention Program documentation must be paid and active. The chapter submitting the documentation must also be listed as chartered and active in IMPAK for the fiscal year in which the program will be implemented.
coNtActs
The National Programs Committee is the primary contact for the development and implementation of the NSBE Retention Program. The committee is composed of the national Programs chair, the assistant Programs chair(s), the Institute for Chapter Development chair and the regional Programs chairs. The national Programs chair heads the committee and is responsible for developing, maintaining and overseeing the program from the national level.

Juniors: Increase preparation for graduate school admissions and/or entry into the engineering work force, improve performance on the Graduate Record Examinations and expand opportunities for volunteer, educational and paid experiences in engineering. NSBE’s national focus this year is on the Freshman Retention Program.
ProgrAM evAlUAtioN
Measuring the success of the Retention Program is critical. All program documentation requirements must be satisfied via the chapter reports and via installments to the Institute for Chapter Development.
NAtioNAl AWArDs
All chapters that implement the Retention Program and submit the required documentation — listed in the evaluation portion of the program documents — qualify to compete for National Awards. The awards are as follows: • First Place, $5,000 – to the chapter that is most effective in overall implementation of the program, member involvement and measuring freshman retention at the chapter’s institution • Second Place, $2,500 • Third Place, $1,250

Awards are based on the National Programs Committee’s assessments of the evaluation documents. Applications for individual National Awards will be available beginning Jan. 1, 2011.
