Jerome William BROWN Single, 30 Vice President/West Region Director of Engineering Quality HDR Engineering California Dennis Slagle, Photographer Think Wild, Wild West, and this towering engineer becomes a rough-rider from a century ago. A sixth generation Californian, Jerome was raised on a ranch in tiny La Grange. As an only child surrounded by cattle, chickens, pigs and peacocks, the wide open spaces nurtured an independent streak. Shunning cars, this modern cowboy puts 30,000 miles/year on his Suzuki M109. At HDR, he oversees risk management and asset planning for projects from Montana to Hawaii, traveling 80 percent of his time. Trying to avoid million dollar disasters keeps Jerome actively investigating theoretical possibilities and solutions. Relaxing: An Alaskan expedition to hunt caribou and bear top his activity list. He’s also a poet and fond of photography. Doing Good: Racial death threats in his rural school meant a 70-mile round-trip to a city school.
