Golf Championships The Baseball Midsummer Classic Returns For the first time in history, a major men’s championship and the Ladies’ PGA will take place in the same city in the same year, and Rochester, NY couldn’t be prouder. For the first time in almost half a century, the Mets will host major league baseball’s mid-season All-Star Game, July 16 at Citi Field in Queens. It’s the ninth time the game has come to New York City and fans are snapping up tickets to watch their favorite players from both the National and American Leagues mix it up in a patchwork of uniforms from baseball’s top teams. Others are looking forward to attending the All-Star Fan Fest, the world’s largest interactive baseball theme park, running from July 12-16 at the Javits Center in Manhattan. SARATOGA RACE COURSE, SARATOGA SPRINGS Saratoga Celebrates 150 Years of Racing America’s premiere horseracing venue celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, and they’re not keeping it quiet. Since its inception in the 1930s, the AllStar Game has drawn giant crowds to watch baseball’s finest battle it out on the diamond. Who will earn the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award this year? In Saratoga Springs, Saratoga Race Course has announced year-long festivities including concerts and cakewalks, flag-lined avenues, ice cream socials, and the re-opening of the Oklahoma Track to view the morning workouts of the world’s finest racing Thoroughbreds.
