Record Year of Visitors
Visit Orlando members and the greater Orlando/Orange County
community have come to expect impressive visitation numbers
each year as our destination continues to break records. Thanks
to our combined efforts, the area hosted 68 million visitors in
2016 - up from 66 million in 2015 and, once again, tops in
the nation.
On any given day, approximately 550,000 visitors were in
Orlando in 2016 to enjoy all that our community has to offer.

Orlando experienced its second-highest result for room nights
sold in 2016 - nearly 33 million. Combined with a record
average daily rate of $116, this led to a 6 percent annual increase
in tourist development tax collections.
But visitation tells only part of the story. Visit Orlando took
entirely new approaches to the way we brand and market the
destination to the world, while also overcoming unforeseen
tragedy and challenges.
