Electric Bicycles: Capitalizing on a
Booming Category for Summer

E-bikes are the fastest growing segment of the bike industry and truly
growing the number of people who
ride bikes. PeopleForBikes has been
leading the charge to get e-bikes access in more places, especially ski areas and summer tourist destinations,
to increase ridership. This session
will cover e-bike basics but also ways
to better understand e-bike demographics, sales trends, and prospects

mural activation featuring renowned
painter, muralist, adventurer, and
humanitarian Patrick Maxcy. The mural will be available for purchase via
silent auction, which will be running
throughout the Show. Profits from the
sale of the artwork will be donated to
The Surfrider Foundation.

Discover Protect Our Winters' new mission to mobilize the outdoor industry
on climate.
For the past six months, the outdoor industry's leader in environmental protection has been involved in a massive undertaking. "We've been doing qualitative
and quantitative research projects to understand people's love of outdoors
and how it pertains to potential they have to make an impact on climate," says
Samantha Kilgore, Protect Our Winters' communications manager. "And what
we've found is that you can't just hit people over the head with climate issues-
it feels too political and polarizing."
Instead, the organization is trying to show individuals that the very things
that define them-being a skier or being a mountain biker-are what's at stake,
rather than just skiing or biking. The reason? To fire them up to join POW's advocacy in ways that will be more straightforward and accessible. Learn about
these efforts-including a new carbon footprint tool with a mission larger than
merely calculating a carbon footprint-at POW's luncheon, "Mobilizing the Outdoor Community on Meaningful Climate Action." The POW lunch will be held
today from 12 to 1 p.m. in MR405. -Tracy Ross
