top spots to get your hands on the
handheld staple is the Asada Rico
food cart on the 16th Street Mall. If
you're anywhere near the Lincoln
Park neighborhood, try El Taco De
Mexico-a local institution that
satisfies any time of day. Opt for a
seat at the counter, and order your
burrito smothered.
Also in Lincoln Park, Buckhorn
Exchange is a storied landmark
steakhouse where Denver's Wild
West heritage is on full display with
wall-to-wall taxidermy. Nearly 600
animal heads look on as diners dig
into plates of rattlesnake, buffalo,
elk, and alligator tail.
Another landmark you don't
want to miss is Union Station,
but instead of mingling with
the masses in the main room
at Terminal Bar, head around

the corner and up the stairs to
The Cooper Lounge. From the
second-floor perch, you'll enjoy
elevated views and fine, fancy
cocktails. Elsewhere in town, visit
My Brother's Bar, The Cruise
Room, and The Brown Palace to
toast to the Mile High's glorious
past. Or head to RiNo's outpost of
the celebrated New York cocktail
lounge Death & Co. in the Ramble Hotel-a sophisticated lounge
that foreshadows the neighborhood's upscale future.
Whatever you choose to do, you'll
find local libations flowing almost
everywhere you go. Colorado's got
the third highest concentration of
craft breweries in the country, and
150 or so of those are in Denver
proper. Some best bets: the mothership Rock Bottom Brewery is a

every pour, and go slow-you get a
bigger buzz at this elevation.
Speaking of an elevated buzz,
cannabis is indeed legal here for
anyone over the age of 21-and it's
basically everywhere, especially
downtown. See all those green
crosses? Those are dispensaries
where you'll have your pick of sticky
green stuff, pre-rolled joints, vapes,
edibles, tinctures, and topicals.
Bring cash and buy up to an ounce
a day while you're here. Amazing,
right? Here's the catch: Unless
you're staying in a 420-friendly
Airbnb, finding somewhere to
legally spark up is all but impossible. Not that it stops people from
ducking into out-of-sight, off-thestreet corners for some hits. Worst
case, that could earn you a ticket.
For a more discrete option, edibles

are perfect. Just start low, go slow.
They are potent.
To recap: Drink more water, drink
less alcohol, and whether or not
THC stimulates your appetite, you'll
want to eat up. Denver is delicious.
The dining scene now rivals coastal
cities. There are so many incredible new restaurants in town. You
should make reservations now.

El Five, Cart-Driver, Tavernetta.

As Denver's grown in recent
years, our menus have gotten
fancier, our palates more sophisticated. But don't worry, our fashion
sense is still very much the opposite of high end. Dress codes don't
really exist, and jeans are acceptable almost everywhere.
High style may not be our thing,
but we've got a penchant for the arts.
See any street in the RiNo neighborhood for proof. Or consider that
Denver Art Museum is home, at
the moment, to the most comprehensive U.S. exhibition of Monet
paintings in two decades. The fine
print: Reservations are required and
sell out daily (check availability at
denverartmuseum.org) and tickets
aren't included in the price of admission to the museum. French impressionism not your thing? Feed your
brain a dose of culture with a swing
through the curated exhibits at the
Museum of Contemporary Art,
then reward yourself with a cocktail
at the rooftop bar.
Did I mention you should drink
more water? Pace yourself. But
enjoy it all. The parties and events
that go down after the Show shutters each day are always epic-and
you should be there.
