through art class," he says. "Several decades passed where
I didn't paint at all, and then, in the last year, my interest
resurfaced. With everything going on these days, it's pretty
therapeutic for me."
While Serbo does paint places that he also photographs,
such as Utah's Canyonlands National Park, he relies on
memory rather than photos when he puts his brush to the canvas. If there is an upside of the pandemic for an action sports
junkie, it's the downtime, which is conducive to the process of
painting. "It's a great creative outlet where you aren't reliant on
external factors like weather and people," he says.
