SigmaPro photographer Liam Doran followed
the rules, continued to shoot the stunning
outdoor adventure images around which
he's built his reputation, and learned to love
his Breckenridge backyard more than ever.

When the state of Colorado instituted safer-at-home guidelines in May, asking residents to keep within 10 miles of their
homes for exercise and recreation, Liam Doran took the suggestion to heart. After all, he has deep powder, singletrack,
peaks, mountain streams, and lakes all out his backdoor in
Breckenridge. Everything the SigmaPro photographer-
whose work has appeared in and on the covers of magazines
including Powder, Outside, Ski, and Elevation Outdoors-
needs is within the prescribed range. So he got out and
started to shoot.
"The deep powder shots were an assignment for Powder,"
he says, "but everything else was shot as stock. My motivation was simple: After 60 days without tripping the shutter, I
had to get out. The weather was great; the backdrops looked
gorgeous; and we were able to shoot safely outside."
Doran went out with friends and local athletes, all of
whom had followed strict quarantine guidelines over the
