Bush Presidential Library and Museum finally opens its doors to the public. And its collection is stunning: 70 million pages of paper records, 43,000 artifacts, 200 million emails, and 4 million digital photographs tell the story of the 43rd President of the United States. Visitors approaching the space’s grand entrance—dubbed Freedom Hall— will be greeted by a 360-degree, 20-foot tall hi-def video board, which orients history buffs to the museum’s many exhibits. Among them are a full-size replica of the Oval Office and objects significant to Bush’s 8-year presidency, including a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. Outside, the Texas Rose Garden and some 15 acres of green space filled with native prairie grasses frame the library’s view of the Dallas skyline. If that doesn’t leave you feeling presidential enough, an on-site gift shop helps you to find your fix of Dubyathemed memorabilia.
