Spirit Magazine - June 2013 - (Page 24)

Your Words Dear Spirit, It’s not often that I’m moved to write anyone about anything I’ve read, but on a late Friday afternoon flight, after a long day-trip to New Orleans, I came across the article titled “Not So Fast,” by David Hochman [April 2013]. I read it not once but two times, and then I swiped the copy of Spirit to share with all my friends. When reading the scenarios Hochman describes, I couldn’t help but feel like he was talking about me. My new mantra is to be more like the tortoise and less like the hare: S-L-O-W. We used regular cucumbers, and they were awesome—especially when paired with a glass of wine. I’m going to use this recipe for Christmas gifts. Thanks to Searsucker and Southwest. After trying to fold the T. rex origami [Fun!, April 2013] for only 10 minutes, my two seatmates and I decided—in true Southwest spirit—just to leave the dollar for the next passenger! Nevertheless, we had fun and made some new friends. This was a welcome treat after nearly missing my flight due to a sprained ankle that slowed me down. Thanks for cheering me up, Southwest! Well, Persia wasn’t a great civilization for nothing. Great idea to turn the cukes into gifts, Josie. 24 spirit june 2013 —l aurie G.
