Scott Richards + Star of the Month R E F U N D S E R V I C E S M A N AG ER , DA L L A S Scott Richards is the ultimate family man, both in and out of the office. Scott, a Refund Services Manager, has worked in the Finance Department at Southwest for more than 13 years. At Southwest, we often refer to our Coworkers as “Family,” and Scott’s Team is the perfect example. He refers to them as a “well-oiled machine,” which is important because they are responsible for processing all Customer ticket refunds. Scott’s Team is small but mighty, something they have proved countless times. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, for example, they rallied together to quickly accommodate thousands of Customers. “My peers are awesome, and I am so proud to work alongside them,” he says. Scott and the Team find time to have fun together, too. A self-proclaimed “big goof,” Scott LUVs the annual Halloween celebration, where he has impersonated Indiana Jones, Conway Twitty, and even Southwest’s Chairman, President, and CEO, Gary Kelly. His most popular costume to date is when he was a back-up dancer to a Coworker’s Beyoncé, complete with black pantyhose, red high heels, and a “Single Ladies” dance that he’ll probably never live down. In his off-duty hours, Scott is a true outdoorsman at heart. “I wear boots every day,” he says. Scott is happiest when he’s hunting, fishing, or spending time on his folks’ farm. Scott used his Southwest flight benefits when he and his wife, Brittany, flew to Orlando, Florida, for their honeymoon in 2002. Ten years later, Brittany officially joined the Southwest Family when she accepted a position in the Customer Relations Department. The couple has two children: an 8-year-old son, TJ, and a 1-year-old daughter, Molly. Scott shares his passion for being outdoors with TJ by coaching his Little League baseball team. He and Brittany are excited to show their children the country as they grow up, one Southwest flight at a time.
