Rapid Rewards Freedom Story + Arturo Alfaro S EN I O R AU D I T M A N AG ER , D ELO I T T E , DA L L A S Arturo Alfaro has a passion for finance-so it's no surprise that before selecting Southwest Airlines for his business travel needs, he calculated the benefits of the Rapid Rewards Frequent Flyer program. He determined that traveling with Southwest would not only save him money but also provide an opportunity for more family vacations. Arturo knows that Southwest's low-stress travel lets him focus on working hard and that earning points with the Rapid Rewards program allows him to play hard later. "At Deloitte, all of my team members originally flew on different airlines. But after a few years, they all began to switch to Southwest," Arturo says. "They saw how much I benefitted from the Rapid Rewards program and how many points I was accumulating." Arturo puts those points to good use by traveling with his family all over the country. They recently embarked on a three-week excursion across the U.S., using his points to fly to Southwest destinations including Baltimore, New York City, Boston, San Diego, and Seattle. He is enthusiastic about the changes coming to Southwest that will bring even more travel opportunities. This month, Arturo plans to fly to Aruba to celebrate Southwest's new international destinations. "I also look forward to flying out of Love Field the day the Wright Amendment restrictions end," he says. "Even if I have to buy a ticket, I can't wait to fly nonstop to Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa Bay, or New York City." The many flights that Arturo has taken over the past eight years as a Rapid Rewards Member have had a somewhat unusual effect on his family: All three of his children-Arturo Jr., Benjamin, and Julianna-can identify from a distance what type of Boeing 737 the family will be flying. "They would like to be pilots at Southwest in the future-which would be a cool way for Dad to get even more free tickets," Arturo jokes.
