Hall of Fame coach Phil Jackson once said, "The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team." And that applies to college conferences as much as it does to any one team. usairwaysmag.com The A-10 is proof - its evolving membership has resulted in the addition of Final Four participant George Mason University this year and Elite Eight participant Davidson College next year. "From a sports perspective, we're a basketballcentric league that has attained national relevance and acclaim," says A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. "We've been successful in winning championships, but also graduating our studentathletes, and providing an outstanding environment in our schools to collectively compete on the courts and in the classroom." The A-10 takes a backseat to no one, as the national rankings suggest. Eight different teams have been ranked in the Top 25 polls since the start of 2012. Over the past three years, the league has had no fewer than eight teams in the top 100 of the Rating Percentage Index (RPI), which rates college teams. The league's current success is nothing new. » PHOTOS (FROM LEFT) BY MITCHELL LAYTON/GEORGE WASHINGTON ATHLETICS AND MITCHELL LEFF/ATLANTIC 10 (2) W ho wants next?" It's the classic basketball question, putting players on notice that there's another game to be played. For years, the Atlantic 10 Conference and its member institutions have put teams from the "power" conferences on notice that the A-10 is among the best when it comes to basketball. "There is no night off," says Archie Miller, head coach at the University of Dayton. "Whether you're at home or on the road, you're playing teams that have aspirations the same as you, and it just makes for an unbelievable race in January and February." http://www.WhoWantsNext.com http://www.usairwaysmag.com
