Pump up the volume, and Big Jambox, about half the size of a shoe box, cranks up enough sound to cover a big space, like the deck around a pool. Use it to stream all your digital audio from any Bluetooth device. A built-in rechargeable battery lets you go for up to 15 hours on a single charge. The Logitech Harmony 900 universal remote control isn’t cheap ($350), but neither was your audio-video system. It uses RF technology to let you operate your devices through obstacles, such as closed entertainment cabinet doors. Set it up with your computer, then leave it in its docking station overnight to recharge the battery. The color touch screen and backlit buttons make it easy to use in darkened rooms, and the unit can do the work of up to 15 different remotes to control any system component. If the price feels a bit steep, check out the Logitech Harmony one Advanced Universal remote, without RF, Thumbs Up It doesn’t double as a smart phone — but it’s very smart. The PlayStation Vita with Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity is a powerhouse portable game system. Players can chat by voice or text with up to eight friends via the Party app, even if they’re not playing the same game. Front and rear cameras deliver an “augmented reality” where the real world and game world meet. The multitouch display is brilliant and crisp, and game play is as smooth as that of any gaming system.
