On Saturday, November 1, car clubs (displaying collectible cars of all vintage years) assemble. Then on Sunday, the highlight event, the Concours D'Elegance, wraps up the annual festival with a day-long showcase capped by an awards presentation for category winners. The awards, treasured by owners, enhance both the prestige and the value of a winning car. The 13th annual Motoring Festival featuring the Concours d'Elegance is a showcase of the world's top collectible cars, most of which have never been seen by the public. The cars on display are, indeed, rare. Only models older than 1973 qualify, and these include the Prewar Classics and both American and European sports cars in pristine condition. The Concours d'Elegance, which has its roots in Paris, is the culmination of a ten-day event that kicks off in Savannah, Georgia. During the weekend of October 24-26, Savannah is host to the Speed Classic, a road race in the city that lays claim as the birthplace of Grand Prix racing.
