inPractice - Spring 2015 - (Page 2)

FROM THE EDITOR As I'm writing this note, I'm sitting in my office with a small heater running, bundled up in my winter sweater and leggings. Compared to last year, Central Pennsylvania has been fortunate so far this year with fairly mild weather (knock on wood). If you can get over the single-digit temperatures, we're lucky that we haven't had more snow. But I'm channeling my inner thoughts of warm weather, sunny skies with longer days and the promise of spring flowers soon to come. Change is in the air. In this issue of inPractice, you can read about some exciting changes to come for Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences. In a much anticipated announcement, hear from our College President Dr. Mary Grace Simcox as she shares news regarding the future home for PA College and the plans to bring all of our students, faculty and staff under one roof. At the end of her two-year term, Alumni Association President Lauren Edgell takes a look back at all the changes she's seen from her time as a student at PA College to all that's happened in the two years she's sat at the helm of the Alumni Association. Dr. Jean Hershey shares insights on the changing face of nurse educators, and our feature alumni article gives you an inside look at what it's like to be both an alumni and an educator at PA College. Change is upon us and I am pleased to bring these stories to you and more! I continue to welcome your feedback on the new alumni magazine, so let us know what you think, provide us with a new story idea or simply connect with us online to keep us up to date with all your alumni news-from new degrees, to new credentials, new jobs and new homes, we want to hear from you! inPractice SPRING | 2015 Administration Mary Grace Simcox Thomas Hulstine Penni Longenecker Jan Edwards Anne Hamill Nancy Florey Editor Stephanie Ellis Art Director Wendell Esbenshade Alumni Relations John Enderle Alumni Association President Lauren Edgell '06 Send Correspondence to: Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences ATTN: Office of Advancement 410 N.
