Clinicals
Hands-On Learning
at Clinical Sites
Though the College has undergone many changes throughout
its 115-year history, one aspect of our curricula has remained
constant: clinical rotations. No matter what program or specialty
a student is enrolled in, every PA College student enrolled in a
clinical program goes through many clinical rotations during
their education.
Clinical rotations are part of a three-pronged approach to
educating future health care professionals, in addition to
classroom theory and simulation practice. Students first learn
PA College
students are
guaranteed
a clinical
spot. This
is a major differentiator
for our programs - other
colleges do not always
have a clinical spot for their
students when they reach
that point in their education.
Though Penn Medicine Lancaster
General Health remains our primary
clinical affiliate, PA College works
with nearly 100 additional partners to
provide clinical experiences for our
learners.

about clinical skills in the classroom, where they are introduced
to the theory behind the mechanics of each skill and procedure.
Then, skills are perfected in the Center for Excellence in Practice,
either in a skills lab focused on hands-on learning or during a
simulation exercise. As students gain confidence in their abilities
as clinicians, they begin to perform skills and procedures in
the clinical setting. Each semester builds on the knowledge
developed in the semester before, expanding the abilities of
each student until they are able to function independently and
confidently as an entry-level professional.
