A GOLD STAR

for the Seraph Foundation Learning Commons
The Pennsylvania Library Association has
awarded gold star status to PA College's
Seraph Foundation Learning Commons-
recognition that was announced during
National Library Week (April 7-13).
The PA Forward Star Library Program
recognizes libraries that are committed to
advancing the organization's ideals through
five types of literacy: basic, information,
civic and social, health, and financial literacy.
PA College was one of only two academic
institutions in the state to be honored with
Gold Star status.
"It's an honor to be recognized as a Gold Star
library," says Christina Steffy, Director of
Library Services at PA College. "The Gold
Star designation is a testament to our
dedication to support our community
through literacy programs and opportunities
for growth. The five PA Forward literacies

have been instrumental to the development
of our library, and we are proud to lead our
college with these ideals."
The PA Forward initiative drives the
Learning Commons to continuously develop
new programs to improve the quality of
student life-during their time at the College
and beyond. New programs that have been
launched include Money Smart Week
programming, MyHealthyLiving Workshops,
and Civic Engagement and Health Care.
"We are excited to be a part of this initiative
and help move Pennsylvania forward," says
PA College President Mary Grace Simcox.
"Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences is
committed to providing practical and quality
resources to our students for their greater
professional development. Our library staff
should be proud of their outstanding efforts
to support the PA College community." n
