With the support of need-based scholarships, more PA
College students can achieve the personal and professional
goals they otherwise simply could not afford to pursue and
go on to make a meaningful impact on the well-being of our
community.

We are grateful to all those donors who have established and
contributed to scholarship funds for our learners, and we
celebrate the following four endowed funds, which make their
debut this academic year.

Rebecca S. Bumsted
Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Rebecca S. Bumsted, a retired
nurse and nurse leader, who is a current and former board member
of numerous nonprofit organizations in Lancaster, including Penn
Medicine Lancaster General Health and the Lancaster General
Health Foundation. The scholarship provides annual need-based
scholarship awards to nursing students, with preference given to
those interested in medical/surgical patient care or oncology.

Helen Hulstine
Endowed Scholarship
The Helen Hulstine Endowed Scholarship Fund was established
by the Hulstine Family and provides annual need-based scholarship
awards to students enrolled in any of the College's academic
programs. Helen Hulstine has provided compassionate, loving
health care-both formally and informally-throughout her life.
This fund honors her exemplary commitment to caring for others.

Yvonne Copenhaver Duncan '59
Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship was established by alumna Yvonne Copenhaver
Duncan '59 in memory of her husband Jim. The fund provides
annual need-based scholarship awards to students enrolled in any
of the College's nursing programs. Duncan earned her nursing
diploma from PA College (then the Lancaster General Hospital
School of Nursing) in 1959 and worked as a nurse in the hospital and
retirement home settings, as well as in the U.S. Air Force.

Dorothy J. Patterson Memorial
Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Robert E. Patterson in
memory of his late wife Dorothy, and supports annual need-based
awards for students enrolled in any of the College's academic
programs. It is Robert Patterson's hope that this scholarship will
inspire and enable students to achieve their dreams of helping
others recover from illness or injury. It is his wish that it may also
serve to honor the loving, dedicated and patient caregivers that
attended his wife in her battle with pancreatic cancer.
