Adrienne Wilk '02, MSN, RN, CHSE, CNE,
CHSOS-A, obtained the Society for Simulation
in Healthcare Certified Healthcare Simulation
Operations Specialist-Advanced (CHSOS-A)
credential. Receiving this required her to submit a
portfolio demonstrating her advanced performance
as an operations specialist in the healthcare
simulation field. The portfolio was peer-reviewed
against established standards of performance. She is
one of only 25 individuals from four countries who
have achieved this distinction. She is currently an
Assistant Professor of Nursing at Austin Peay State
University in Clarksville, Tennessee, and enrolled at
the University of Northern Colorado in the Ph.D.
in Nursing Education program with an anticipated
dissertation defense date of May 2022. She was also
recently named a National League for Nursing (NLN)
Jonas Scholar. She was selected for this honor because
her doctoral research helps address the core goals
of the NLN in advancing the science of nursing
education. Her husband is an active-duty Army
soldier, and she has two children. n
Calling All Mentors
While a student's last semester is exciting, it can also be an
uncertain and intimidating time. Do you remember facing
graduation and independent patient care? Did a kind mentor
or experienced colleague take you under their wing to show you
the ropes? You can be that encouraging presence for current
students. PA College has an entirely digital alumni-student
mentoring program.
Cris Rhyner '17, '19, RN, BSN, is a current mentor. " I became a
nurse recently, graduating with a lifetime of extensive traveling
and experience under my belt. Even so, the first year after
graduation was overwhelming, " she says.
" I wanted the opportunity to help students through that
anxiety. So far, I've answered questions about how to study for
the NCLEX and how to prepare for the nursing world outside
of school. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to interact
with more students. "
