PA COLLEGE / FEATURE The second simulation of the day features Dan Poukish, an actor playing a patient who has just entered hospice. Following simulations surrounding death, a counselor is always available to help students through any unexpected emotions. During this scenario, students must handle explaining the hospice process to the patient, field an angry call from a relative who disagreed with the patient's decision, and then educate both the patient and the family on the end-oflife process. " This is a different kind of clinical experience, but we definitely need it. I can't imagine going into a hospital without having this. It's so much better to be prepared before you go into the hospital. " SYDNEY LOBB '22 " This also allows us to do home health simulations and hospice. In a hospital you do one scenario. Here we get the chance to experience every possibility. " KATELYN DONAHUE '22 PA College / Winter 2022 11
