Golf etiquette made simple;
It doesn't have to be so hard

irtually everything written about dropping golf participation includes disparaging comments about the complexity of the rules of play and etiquette - and the two
sometimes distinct issues are unfortunately perceived as one in
the same. While the USGA is working on the rules, we can
make the etiquette simple in about 5 minutes of explanation.
The 5-part curriculum originally used by the First Tee and
later adapted for Get Golf Ready was based on Hunter Safety
Schools conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources. An informal poll of 250 Pellucid State of the Industry attendees in January and February indicated that this is a
very little known fact.
First suggested in a 1991 report for the Golf Foundation of
Wisconsin as part of a quick introduction program, the curriculum was co-authored by avid hunter and noted golf teacher
Dennis Tiziani. With the help of WPGA Section Executive

Director Tony Coleman and GFW Executive Director Carl
Unis, Milwaukee County donated the use of Noyes Park in
1994. The Noyes Park program became the second First Tee
Facility in the U.S. and the curriculum was adopted by the national group.
The millennials are not the first generation to reject "because
I told you so" or "that's the way it's always been done" as valid
reasons for established rules and/or beliefs. Without the questions of youth, the earth would still be flat and we'd still be
listening to cassette tapes on a Walkman.
Things start to get complicated when idealism meets some
of the absolutes such as an apple falling from a tree at 32 feet
per second squared helps explain why people on construction
sites wear helmets. Einstein provided additional support for
why some objects hurt more than others.
