Topgolf responded with Director of Real Estate Devin
Charhon saying the company was breaking down barriers to
the game of golf, which can be expensive, time-consuming, and
difficult. "This is an opportunity for us to transform and create
potentially a model for municipal golf in this country," Charhon
said.

Not sure if that's a good omen or a warning.
Poor's "Save the Lakes" organization hopes to place a referendum on the March 2020 ballot to stop the Topgolf development. Poor claims that at least 50% of residents oppose the
Topgolf plan. And, all he needs is 50% plus one to win.
Will Topgolf back down? Riiight. Will it sweeten the pot
with a more lucrative proposal? That's unlikely now that the
proposal detailed above is in the books. At best, maybe they'll
mobilize Topgolf fans and supporters to knock on Long Beach
doors with their 1-irons (what else are 1-irons good for?) in a
get-out-the-vote campaign. Don't forget the beer and chicken
wings!
