Better Than They Appeared
What We're Learning From GMRC Pilot Participants

couldn't resist having some fun with the title and the widelyrecognized disclaimer on your car's external rearview mirrors.
It's a great way to get into this month's topic which is what
we're learning from pilot participants and their Rounds, Golf
Revenue and Peak GF Rate data that they've been feeding into
the Golf Market Research Center (hence, GMRC) web portal
over the past 6 weeks. Stuart and I have been peering over their
shoulder while they run the reports generated from their data
and collaborating with them on what seemed to work and why
in '20. For all the rest of you sitting on the sidelines, and that
includes the major management companies who are still " assessing the benefit " , hopefully this serves as a not-so-subtle nudge to
get in the pilot game and test-drive the tool before the free, no
obligation period ends 5/31. For those paying really close attention to the program, yes we extended the pilot from the initial
4/30 end date in some part due to the fact that we didn't get
the formal NGCOA program and member benefit finalized until

just recently and we want to give their members at least 30 days
to " play " .
Before launching into the summary findings and which numbers are " as expected " vs. those which were " really? " I have to
do the standard " your mileage will vary " disclaimer. This initial portfolio of owner/operators are generally " early adopters " ,
they're spread out geographically (not balanced) and they represent an assortment of Pellucid facility types (all however are
Public, Regulation-length by Pellucid " typing " and they do span
the spectrum from Premium to Price). Given those facts, the
~50 facilities currently participating in the GMRC pilot aren't
balanced in their composition and therefore not projectable (yet)
to markets, states or the nation. That said, it does however give
us the first and only visibility beyond the rounds-only data at the
state level provided by Golf Datatech as our sole barometer to
answering the key question of, " How good was '20? "
