customer base in order to keep them engaged.
As we look at the more detailed data we now have on 2020's
good performance; it is still clear that both short and long term
golf industry health requires that we harness this bonus interest. We still need to attract Millenials at the same time we try
to maintain the increased frequency from existing, and increasingly older, golfers.
As we have noted before, the prime age for attracting golfers
(and re-engaging juniors) is between 25 - 40. The importance of
skill development and adapting programs to appeal to that age
group is critical. Fortunately, we are seeing good results for programs such as Operation 36 - several of our clients are using the
program with good success. Project Golf, a program developed
in Myrtle Beach is also showing promise.
The key remains communication with your new and existing customers. That requires both stepped up customer contact
information collection and a good, regular schedule of targeted
messages to your various customer segments. Consistent " defector " contact can be a beneficial ingredient of that schedule.
Putting extra effort into these tasks will give you the best shot
at sustaining the gains of 2020 - it will also help with some long
term issues that even the gains of 2020 did not fix.
