A
fter a brutal January, February rode to the rescue with Golf
Playable Hours (GPH) registering a 15% gain vs. YearAgo
(YA). That brings the Year-to-Date (YtD) GPH figure
to +2% after January's double-digit decline. Regional breadth
was favorable at 2:1 with 12 favorable regions vs. 8 unfavorables
with 4 in the neutral zone (+/- 2%) and the balance (21) out of

Played Rounds for January as published by Golf Datatech
showed rounds predictably following weather " south " registering
a 12% decline, in line with our " call " of double digits
down based on the negative weather backdrop. According to
Datatech, Public & Private returned to relative parity results
(+12% vs. +13% respectively). To the critical question of how
much weather impacted the marginal rounds gain, recall that
the previously-reported January GPH decline was -10% so

Utilization provides the " truth " of how we performed reflected
in the 1 pt decline and marks the seventh consecutive month
of decline in this key metric.

figure for the past 7 months, we see a pattern emerging
of a roughly 1 pt drop in Utilization each month which would
seem like we're on a gentle glidepath back to pre-COVID levels

our key rounds-producing regions, we saw weather strength in
Mid-Cont. South (OK & surrounds) and SE Inland (Atlantacentric).
