Miami has a 12 month season whereas Minneapolis is
lucky to have 7. In simple math terms, this means that
a course in Miami should have 70+% more Weather
Adjusted Capacity (WAC) than one in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis. Like any location on earth, both Miami and Minneapolis
have an average of 12 hours of daylight; but, because of
the difference in latitude, on June 21st (the longest day of the
year) Miami has 13 hours and 45 minutes of daylight and Minneapolis
has almost 2 hours more (15:37). In our formula for
Weather Adjusted Capacity, that means that a course in Minneapolis
has room for 50+ more golfers/day than Miami on the
same date. The Minneapolis course will continue to have more
capacity than a course in Miami through the autumnal equinox
in September.

(WAC) than one in Minneapolis. Our 10 Year Normal WAC
in Minneapolis is 48,532 Rounds/year - Miami's is 72,268/ year
for an increase of only 49%. Part of the reason is the extended
amount of in-season daylight for Minneapolis noted above.
Another part of it is the " extra " playable days in Miami are the
shorter days in November - March. The change to DST will really
benefit the southern courses over those months.
The actual impact of DST simply trades early morning daylight
to give evenings an extra hour of light. So DST doesn't
change the amount of light - just pushes it for the traditional
5 day workweek from work daylight to " recreational daylight " .
Given the current clock switching in mid-March and early November
covers virtually the entire Minneapolis season, permanent
DST will not have any appreciable impact there; or for basically
the whole northern 1/3rd of the US. The real impact will
be moving WAC from work daylight to " recreational daylight "
for the southern 2/3rd of the US. For the 5 traditional workdays,
this change will move a lot of hours.
