supply. Areas of innovation include renewable generation
forecasting, renewable generation management, demand and
supply operations, distribution operations, online PV control, and staff training. Although the issue was not described
much in this article, under the progressing deregulation of
the business structure of the power industry, the penetration
of renewable generation is also causing many institutional
challenges, including frequent ¥0 prices in the wholesale
market. The increasing penetration levels of renewable generation also bring new issues regarding the reduced operation of synchronous machines and exacerbate the problems
related to supply adequacy. We need to make every effort
to realize a stable, affordable, sustainable, and safe future
energy system through efficient planning, investment, and
operation by enhancing technologies and institutions.
