servicios públicos. Las FED de la microrred también pueden
aislar involuntariamente secciones del sistema de servicios
públicos fuera de la microrred durante un evento de pérdida
de fuente. La figura 5 muestra una ilustración de la posibilidad
de un modo de isla involuntario.
La pérdida de fuente se refiere a una condición de corte
de servicio sin falla de cortocircuito coincidente. El sistema
de protección de microrred está diseñado tanto para
interrumpir las contribuciones de FED a fallas del sistema
de servicios públicos que no hayan sido resueltas por otros
dispositivos de protección del sistema de servicios públicos
como para evitar que los circuitos del sistema de servicios
públicos queden involuntariamente en islas fuera de la
microrred.
Cuando se detecta una falla de la red pública o una condición
de pérdida de fuente, los relés dispararán el interruptor
de interconexión (CB1 o CB2) o los Interruptores FED,
según las condiciones de funcionamiento de la microrred
en el momento del evento. La respuesta de protección a los
eventos del sistema de servicios públicos y la determinación
de qué interruptor(es) disparar es parte del esquema de
protección ante el modo de isla continuo y no planeado de
la microrred.
Modo de isla continuo y no planeado
Modo de isla continuo y no planeado se refiere a la capacidad
de una microrred para mantener la energía en los tres
circuitos de los clientes (es decir, Thomson Park, YMCA y
Memorial Gardens) durante una interrupción o perturbación
no planificada de los servicios públicos. Para lograr esto, la
microrred debe pasar al modo de isla tan pronto como se
detecte un evento en los servicios públicos, sin interrupción.
Esencialmente, la microrred funciona de manera similar a
una fuente de energía ininterrumpida.

Como se muestra en la figura 6, el estado normal de la microrred
del CEP está conectada a la red, y los cogeneradores
suministran la mayor parte de la carga. Una pequeña cantidad
de energía se importa constantemente de la empresa de servicios
públicos como un búfer para evitar exportar energía.
