Se consideraron modelos de planificación de generación de energía y de
gestión de activos. Se recopilaron y
agregaron al modelo diversos datos
e información, incluidos datos hidrológicos, información sobre eficiencia
de las unidades, impacto ambiental
y proyecciones de carga. El modelo
permitió seleccionar una opción de
modernización ideal utilizando la optimización del gasto de capital basada
en el riesgo.

hidroeléctrica es de Peter Donalek. El
artículo comienza con una historia de
la energía hidroeléctrica y el almacenamiento por bombeo en particular,
con un enfoque especial en la planta
Rocky River (terminada en 1928), la
primera de su tipo en los Estados Unidos. El autor detalla cómo las unidades
de almacenamiento hidroeléctrico se
pueden convertir en almacenamiento
por bombeo. Un motor/generador reversible y una bomba/turbina en un eje
común en la Unidad 2 de Hiwassee se
