In addition, registrations are being accepted for other educational programs offered by the Game Commission, including Successful Bowhunting, Successful Furtaking and Cable Restraint Certification. The Successful Bowhunting course is a 1day voluntary training program for those seeking to expand their bowhunting skills and knowledge. While voluntary in Pennsylvania, this course may satisfy the requirements in other states. The $18 course fee includes the cost of the online study course, which students must take before attending the class. Successful Furtaking is a 1-day training course that provides extensive hands-on training for those who want to become successful furtakers, and it promotes Best Management Practices. The course also includes the cable restraint certification that is required to participate in the cable restraint season for foxes and coyotes. This course also fulfills the requirement that all first-time furtaker license buyers pass a basic education course. A $15 fee is charged. The Cable Restraint Certification

course is required for those trappers seeking to participate in the annual trapping season in which cable restraints are used to capture coyotes and foxes. The course fee is $15, and students will get to keep various education materials and one legal cable restraint provided as part of the course. Later this year the agency will be launching “Successful Turkey Hunting.” This course is designed to provide knowledge and skills needed to be successful in both spring and fall seasons. It will provide first-time turkey hunters a huge step toward bagging a bird. Veterans will learn methods and techniques that will make them better hunters, too. Students will receive a 140-page guide and a diaphragm turkey call as part of the class. Classes are expected to start this fall. A $15 fee will be charged for the course. “We are planning to offer additional courses in the future, focusing on specific sporting arms and certain species-specific seasons, such as Successful Muzzleloading, and Successful Wingshooting,” Snyder said. “We will be working with interested groups of sportsmen specializing in each of the areas to develop curriculum and solid hands-on training that will emphasize methods and techniques.”

Clubs urged to participate in pheasant chick and egg program
