turkey rig have plenty of ways to do so.
But it makes sense to stick with practical
add-ons to improve the overall user experience. If that means installing a recoil pad
to reduce shock or kick at the shot, go for
it. Adding a sling also can make carrying
your gun long distances more convenient;
plus, it frees up your hands to set decoys
or carry out a tagged tom.
Fiber-optic sights can aide in acquiring
a sight picture under low-light conditions,
even if a simple front bead is all it takes
to line up properly. Taking it even further,
a red-dot scope can be affixed to the top
of the gun for spot-on accuracy, but it can
pose major issues if batteries die without
notice.
It's all a matter of personal preference.
Youth Hunters
The surest way to turn off young hunters is to force them to use guns that are
too powerful for their stature. If they are
intimidated by the kick of a large-bore

Using a steady rest, such as a monopod or
shooting sticks, also can help alleviate the
shotgun's holding weight while a gobbler
approaches.

When it all comes down to it, the mostimportant concept is to ensure the hunter,
whether young or old, is familiar and
comfortable shooting the gun - no matter
the style, size or setup. Additionally, what
works for one might not work for all, so it
is up to each individual to determine his
or her own preferences in a turkey gun.

turkey shotgun is best, but one constant
remains - those who put in the time to
fine-tune their setup will most assuredly
hunt with confidence knowing they have
selected the right gun for the job.
