BY JOHN KASUN HEAD HUNTING Unlike a bullet, a razor-sharp broadhead delivers no shocking power. It kills by piercing vital organs and severing veins and arteries, creating hemorrhage. That makes it one of the most important pieces of bowhunting equipment. Yet, the decision about which broadhead to use often is made without full consideration of the factors involved. More than 1,000 different models of broadheads are manufactured, but each won't suit your particular needs equally. Too many shooters errantly believe a broadhead that weighs the same as a field point will fly the same. Want proof it might not? Tear two sheets of paper out of a tablet. Fold one into a paper airplane and roll the other into a tight ball. Now toss them both. Did they fly the same? Why not? They weigh the same. THE SEARCH FOR SHARPER SHOOTING SEPTEMBER 2020 57
