That's the handgun's most unique feature: it can accommodate any TC barrel with the proper outside dimensions, since the frame itself is not cartridge specific. The installed barrel determines the caliber. To swap one barrel for another, simply remove the handguard, open the action and remove the hinge pin and barrel. Next, set the replacement barrel in the action and install the hinge pin. Close the action and install the forend. There are two firing pins contained within the Contender's exposed hammer. One is for centerfire ammunition while the other is for rimfire. There is a hammer block for safety that, when engaged, restricts the hammer from dropping.
