Celebrating Our 40th
Anniversary
T he PKD Foundation was founded by Jared J. Grantham, M.D., and Joseph H.
Bruening on August 20, 1982, to find treatments and a cure for PKD. Their
vision has been at the heart of the Foundation's work ever since. When they
established the Foundation, no one knew much about PKD. The genes
had not yet been identified, and very few researchers were working in
PKD science.
Since then, the PKD Foundation has proudly funded more than
1,300 research projects and leveraged $1.5 billion in research
funds. Over the past several years, we have also increased our
efforts in advocacy, education, awareness, and patient
support. As we approach our 40th anniversary this
August, we reflect on the incredible strides
we've made toward ending PKD.
