Honors, Accolades, and Achievements
❚ Kelsey Leonard was a member of a team recognized with the prestigious Peter Benchley Ocean
Award for developing the first Mid-Atlantic Regional
Ocean Action Plan. Leonard served as tribal co-lead
for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Planning Body, which
developed a plan to manage the region's ocean
resources from New York to the Virginia-North
Carolina border.
❚ Marcellus Proctor was selected to receive the
2017 Society of American Indian Government
Employees (SAIGE) Leadership Award,
presented at the SAIGE National Training
Program in Scottsdale, Ariz. Proctor is
co-chair of the AISES

Council and the first recipient of the AISES Government Partner Service Award (2016), and has served as
chair of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center's Native
American Advisory Committee.
❚ Dr. Nader Vadiee has been honored with the first
GlobalMindEd Digital Inclusion Award for his work
with students at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic
Institute. The nonprofit GlobalMindEd focuses on
access, equity, and opportunity for first-generation
and underserved college students. For more on
