NAVAJO TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
The American Veterinary Medical Association's Council on Education has approved
Navajo Technical University's associate
in applied science degree program in
veterinary medicine for accreditation. This
distinction for the Crownpoint, N.M., school
not only represents the highest standard
of achievement in the field of veterinary
medicine, but is also a first for a tribal
university.

GEORGIA TECH
The Center for the Development and Application of Internet-of-Things Technologies at
Georgia Tech, located in Atlanta, will benefit
from a new commitment from Kimberly-Clark.
The company will support research into the IoT
marketplace that addresses issues including
privacy, trust, regulation, and policy. KimberlyClark has partnered with the school in research
for more than three decades and sponsors key
programs at the university.

UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO BOULDER
This fall a new $82.5 million aerospace
engineering building will start taking
shape on the campus of the University of
Colorado Boulder. The facility, expected
to be ready for students in July 2019, will
feature an indoor flight environment for testing unmanned systems and a roof design
with sight lines for tracking satellites. The
building will house the rapidly growing Ann
and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace
Engineering Sciences.

BOWIE STATE UNIVERSITY
A new $102 million Center for Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Nursing has opened
at Bowie State University in Maryland. The
building is designed for active learning and
incorporates the latest technology and sustainability features. Now with a diverse campus
that welcomes students from many cultures,
the school is one of the country's oldest historically black colleges.

WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS
The Center for Genome Sciences and
Systems Biology at Washington University
School of Medicine in St. Louis has received
a $10 million gift from the Harry Edison
Foundation. The gift to the school will support research programs, especially into the
gut microbiome and how genetic differences
can affect well-being.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO
A local family has given University of Chicago
Medicine a $100 million gift to establish the
Duchossois Family Institute, focused on preserving health by maximizing the body's own defenses. Research at the institute will focus on the
immune system, microorganisms, and genetics.
