Hometown Spotlight
If Rutherford County had an ambassador, it would have
been Clive Haynes. He embodied small-town friendly
while proving happiness is neither expensive nor beyond
our grasp.
Clive personified color, both literally and figuratively. He
was easy-going and had a free-spirited nature.
He had a career at painting murals for restaurants and
businesses in multiple states.
Rutherford County is peppered with his landmark murals
like the one featured above. There are dozens of all sizes
and subject matter. Some of the most notable depicting
our " small town friendly " charm can be viewed on Powell
Street in Forest City, inside the Fountain at Smith's Drugs,
in the outpatient wing of Rutherford Regional Hospital
and in Chimney Rock State Park.
He will be missed by many. We are a more vibrant
community because of him.
