PHOTO CONTEST
WINNER
Thanks to all students who participated in the MOMENTUM photo
contest for the September, October and November issues. In all, 33
students submitted 72 photos-each one visually striking in its own way.
Don't be too disappointed if you weren't selected as a winner for one
of the three issues. You are welcome to use your photos as the basis for
submission of an article about your team. MOMENTUM pays 25 cents/
word, so you could earn more money by writing an article than you
could have by winning the $100/issue photo contest. We're sure there's
a good story behind each photo.
And now for the big announcement: The winner of the November
MOMENTUM photo contest is Miguel Lopez of Universidad Autónoma
de Ciudad Juárez in Chihuahua, México. The photo shows the driver
signaling to the photographer with one hand and driving with the other
during the Endurance event at the 2017 Baja SAE Kansas competition in
Pittsburg, Kan.

Good day, and welcome to the 2018 competition season.
The CDS Staff will be adding reminders and important
information for the 2018 Competition Season here in
MOMENTUM!
We would like to remind all teams to be checking the
competition-specific webpages on students.sae.org/cds/
and newsfeeds for reminders, updates, and deadlines. Also,
we'll be reaching out to the individual who registered the
team, so make sure that person is aware and checking
emails. As we move through the competition season, be sure
to check the sponsor pages and equipment supplier pages
on your specific competition.
We would like to remind students and faculty of the many
channels CDS staff uses to communicate to teams and the
various outlets available. This list includes our webpages,

news feed, (of course MOMENTUM), Facebook and the FAQ
section. These are all outlets for you to obtain vital and
pertinent information. The CDS homepage (students.sae.
org/) is a direct link.
Rules, deadlines, sponsor information, student resources,
equipment suppliers, contact info and schedules, when
available, are just some of the information within these links.
Also, as a reminder, all of our volunteers, organizers and rule
committee members spend many days and hours-all on
their own time and some using their own funds-to support
the SAE CDS Series. They are an all-important part of these
events. Please treat this group with respect, as we would not
have these events if it were not for our volunteers.
