Contributor of the Year award in its
inaugural year. Thirty-five accepted an
invitation to the Paris Las Vegas hotel for
a three-day celebration.
In addition to an award reception
and dinner on the event's final night
when the Contributor of the Year Award
winner was revealed, Edenhart and team
offered optional tours of Las Vegas and
nearby Hoover Dam, and hosted several
networking affairs. The volunteers-
coming from industry, academia, and
government-were intrigued to hear the
passion with which their counterparts
donated time, effort, and heart to keep
the shine on SAE's name and advance its
mission.
"While your stories are unique," SAE
Chief Operating Officer Raman Venkatesh
told the 2019 Top Contributor Class at the
celebration's final event on November
16, "there is one consistent trait that all
of you share. And that is your passion

"I think every person here is
deserving," a humble Bob
Ireland said about having been
selected Contributor of the Year
from among the 47 nominees in
the 2019 Top Contributor Class.
for impacting the mobility industry...Your
stories are all unique. In many ways, that
also makes SAE International unique. We
offer so many opportunities for great
minds and great people to get involved."
After Venkatesh's remarks, each
nominee was called to the stage to receive

a specially designed pin while his or her
citation was read-much in the manner of
SAE Fellow recognition events. Once all of
the nominees received their pins, Ireland
was revealed as SAE's 2019 Contributor of
the Year.

SAE International's Collegiate Design
Series (CDS) competitions take students
beyond textbook theory by enabling
them to design, build, and test the
performance of a real vehicle and then
compete with other students from
around the globe in exciting and intense
competitions. All CDS competitions
prepare undergraduate and graduate
engineering students in a variety of
disciplines for future employment
in mobility-related industries by
challenging them with a hands-on,
team engineering experience that also
requires budgeting, communication,
project management, and resource
management skills. Students also gain
valuable exposure with recruiters from
leading companies in the mobility
industry to help land their first
engineering job after graduation.

Competition (CDS) Plan for Success!!!
Advice, recommendations and reminders
for a successful 2020 CDS season:
1) Read the rules! Read the rules and
re-read the rules (this is part of the
planning process)
2) Arrive prepared and ready to compete
3) Have all your paperwork completed,
Registration Fast Track Form, technical
inspection sheets, etc.
4) Ask questions beforehand, there are
avenues for this all year long.

5) Follow all the social media sites to
keep abreast of changes/updates:

6) Attend all team meetings during
your event. Teams must/should/are
required to attend all "mandatory
team meetings." These meetings are
for your benefit; they provide all the
vital information needed for the next
days' activities. Teams not attending
are severely handicapped and will
not be aware of changes and/or
adjustments to the schedule.
If you want to be successful, in any
part of your life... Prepare, plan and
succeed
