SAE CHAMPION FROM MTU NAMED WINNER OF
RUMBAUGH AWARD

Formula SAE team, Cora Taylor, has
been named winner of the Rumbaugh
Outstanding Student Leader Award. The
award is designed to "identify and recognize
an outstanding student leader of one or
more SAE activities and, through the award,
encourage a vision within the student to

Taylor also served on the MTU SAE Student Chapter board and
organized an annual trip to Detroit to attend WCX: SAE World Congress
Experience with a group of 10 students. She also led the way in
establishing SAE's A World In Motion curriculum at five local middle
schools; more than 50 middle school students and 50 MTU students
have completed AWIM projects.
"Winning this award is more meaningful than anyone, Mr. Rumbaugh
included, can understand," she told MOMENTUM. "Being a part of
SAE and FSAE specifically has been one of the most useful and
memorable experiences I have had to date."
After receiving her master's degree, she plans to pursue a Ph.D.

SAE International holds multiple technical paper
contests for students and young professionals (age 1834). The student winners of the first 2020 competition
are George Koutsakis, a Ph.D. student at the University
of Wisconsin; and Erika Ziraldo, a Ph.D. student at the
University of Guelph. They were to present their winning
papers at WCX 2020 SAE World Congress Experience
in Detroit this month, but the event has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, the deadline for the other contest,
associated with the Innovations in Mobility conference,
has passed. The winners of that contest will be identified
in a future issue of MOMENTUM.

SAE CAREER COUNSELOR SERIES

SAE teams up with executive leadership coach,
Alyson Lyon, to discuss challenges in the workplace
and possible solutions in the SAE Career Counselor
Series (connection.sae.org/career-counselor). In
the past year, SAE has created four new episodes:
Career Advancement with SAE; Relationship Building;
Collaboration; and a bonus episode, Collaboration and
SAE Collegiate Design Series Competitions (CDS). You
have the technical knowledge and skillset to become an
engineer-with the Career Counselor Series, you can also
gain the skill set to navigate the office experience.
