The	types	of	knowledge	SAE	International	provides	is	varied	–	 professional development courses, technical papers, technical standards, books and magazines. Although the global economic crisis had a negative impact on revenue for these areas, many successful measures were taken to help ensure success for the future. In	Professional	Development,	the	number	of	classroom	seminar	 programs were streamlined to be more in line with industry need. More	courses	were	developed	and	scheduled	for	high-demand	topic	 areas, including vehicle electrification, connected vehicles, diesel technologies,	and	advanced	materials.	The	number	and	types	of

Webinar programs were revised to meet these high-demand areas. And, SAE International enhanced its suite of online, self-paced learning modules to provide even more convenient and costeffective ways to learn. SAE International’s e-Pubs unit experienced several successes in 2009. In 2009, SAE International began converting more than 20,000 technical	papers	from	1906-1979	into	electronic,	downloadable,	 PDF	documents.	The	conversion	means	that	all	of	SAE	 International’s	88,000	technical	papers will be available electronically, thereby enhancing search functions. SAE	International	launched	its	new	e-Books	Website	in	2009.	The	 site offers a variety of new releases, best-sellers and out-of-print titles	in	electronic	format.	The	downloadable	files	are	compatible	 with personal computers or hand-held reader devices such as the	AmazonKindle,	Sony	Reader	or	Apple	iPhone.	Customers	can
