In addition to focusing on donor relations, the Foundation also reviewed expenses and outcomes. The result was a significant reduction in the cost per dollar raised that went from $0.38 in 2008 to $0.17 in 2010; three cents less than the low-end of the acceptable national standard. With a renewed emphasis on fiscal efficiency, more dollars are able to be directed to the vital programs funded through the Foundation — Collegiate Design Series, A World In Motion® and SAE’s awards and scholarships. In 2010, the SAE Foundation funded more than 60 awards and recognition programs. The programs recognized achievements in education, and included scholarships to both undergraduate and graduate engineering students. These scholarships assist in developing the future engineering workforce by helping students achieve their dreams of becoming and engineer. In 2010 SAE International, through the support of the SAE Foundation, awarded nearly 70 scholarships to more than 200 deserving high school and college students. 23http://www.awim.org/
