Aerospace Sector The global economy and reductions in global defense budgets continued to have a mixed effect on the aerospace industry in 201 Following its 1. 10-Year Roadmap, SAE International responded with wide-reaching initiatives that further enabled the growing segments of the industry (large commercial aviation) and supported those that were struggling (defense and general aviation). These efforts included developing high-value, globally relevant standards and expanding the meetings and professional development portfolio to meet the evolving technology needs of the aerospace industry. In partnership with its affiliate, the Performance Review Institute (PRI), the Society worked to ensure that its products meet the current and future needs of the growing aerospace industries in India, Russia and China. Further global efforts included expanding the Society’s meetings portfolio with the 201 SAE AeroTech Congress 1 and Exhibition in Toulouse, France. 5
