leading The soluTion Tim ANd PAT WhiTEd ANd ThE STORy Of SiSTER c On May 22, 2013, the SAE Foundation hosted our 15th annual celebration where former GM Senior Vice-President of Global Development and current CEO Mary T. Barra announced that GM would be donating a 2014 Cadillac CTS VSport to the Foundation. On August 9, in Reno, NV during the Barrett-Jackson Hot August Nights Car Auction, GM auctioned the red Cadillac with all proceeds coming to the SAE Foundation. Pat and Tim Whited of Nederland, Colorado provided the winning bid of $120,000. As a passionate collector of all age cars, Mr. Whited felt that making a contribution to the SAE Foundation was a form of payback for all of the incredible enjoyment the car collecting hobby has brought to his family. Mr. Whited stated that "It is very important to support and encourage the future generations of engineers." Tim and Pat Whited previously participated in a Barrett-Jackson charity opportunity in 2010. General Motors had donated the last U.S.-production 2008 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Limited Edition for auction, with all proceeds to going directly to the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. 20
