First Announcement & Call for Papers SETEC 2011

Advanced Composites, The Integrated System
SETEC 11 Leiden will be the 6th Technical Conference and Tabletop Exhibition of SAMPE Europe, and will become the first to be organized and held in BENELUX. After the launch in 1996 in Toulouse, SETEC has been organised in Madrid, Augsburg, Filton and Brindisi, Italy in 2010. All those locations have a strong and long lasting relationship and impact on aerospace developments and their regional aerospace Industry. It is well known that in the three countries of the BENELUX a long tradition exists, to do business in the aerospace and space industry with important impact on their economy. This activity in research and development and industrial production is lasting over decades and is constantly evolving to respond to the latest state-of-the-art and requirements of the world-market. As such, the present Fokker Aerospace Group, to name only one, has been a real pioneer to bring inventions to industrialised application, remembering, e.g. the development and application of the metal to metal bonding technology for aircraft structures which became an immense breakthrough – or more recent the introduction of the two new engineered type of materials, the multi-layered hybrids, known as “GLARE‚” By courtesy of Dutch Space and the TenCate CETEX‚ continuous fibre thermoplastic composites, both applied in the A380, Glare as the structural shells for the fuselage and CETEX thermoplastics for large scale structural applications on the wings. Those two examples stand for several strong inventions and the continuous development effort made by BENELUX universities, research institutes and industry during the last decades. SAMPE Europe and SAMPE BENELUX are pleased to honour this strong engagement of the BENELUX universities, research institutes and industry in their efforts to become and remain leading participants in the European and world aerospace industry, by organizing SETEC 11 in Leiden. The theme of SETEC 11 stating “Advanced Composites, The Integrated System” provides the link to the excellent and high developed culture of innovation and industrial realization in this area of Europe which is successfully applied by a very respectful amount of companies and organisations in their daily work to not only consolidate but also to expand their international market-position further. SETEC 11 attendees will be invited to witness the capabilities and results made in the BENELUX and from all other countries realized by Research Group, Test House, Universities and Industries being active in the aerospace and space segment. CALL FOR PAPERS The joint team of SAMPE Europe and SAMPE BENELUX invites designers, engineers, researchers, processors and manufacturers, being active in or for the aerospace and space industry to present their latest innovation, development, achievement, test-results and new application in the field of high performance advanced composites at SETEC 11 Leiden, by submitting an abstract of 200 words maximum for judgment and selection by the joint Scientific Committee of SAMPE Europe/BENELUX. Research, development, applications, and engineering paper topics will include, but not be limited to: • Materials Technology • Process Automation • Maintenance & Repair • Design & Analysis • Thermoplastic Composites • Multifunctional & Hybrid Materials • Aircraft Structures and Applications • Impact Resistance & Damage Tolerance • Processing Technology • Testing & NDE • Space Structures & Applications • New Tooling Concepts

The abstract has to be received at the latest by April 30th, 2011 by e-mail to SEBO@sampeeurope.org. By mid May 2011 all authors of abstracts will be informed about the selection. Authors of papers that will be invited for presentation are requested to remit the file of the full paper not later than June 30th 2011. Speaker/Authors of selected papers will get a substantial reduction on the full registration fee, which will be including the conference sessions, exhibits, welcome reception, coffee breaks, two lunches, the SETEC 11 dinner, and a Conference Proceedings.
